RESPONSIBLE STORAGE PROJECT

With the objective of training the employees of the Port of Recife, the State Agency for the Environment (CPRH) and the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (ABIQUIM), held a training on responsible storage on November 13, 2018. The meeting took place in auditorium area and was attended by lecturer Luiz Shizuo Harayashiki, manager of ABIQUIM's business management.
ABIQUIM's Responsible Action® Program is an initiative of the Brazilian and global chemical industry with the aim of demonstrating a voluntary commitment to continuously improve its performance in Health, Safety and Environment.
With the mission of promoting the competitiveness and sustainable development of the chemical industry installed in Brazil, ABIQUIM presented proposals for actions to develop a study, aiming at the safe storage of chemical products, developing a pilot in the Port of Recife and later in the other customs entry of chemicals;
With instructions on implementing risk analysis and emergency preparedness in handling and storage, in accordance with the requirements of the Responsible Care Program, he presented the five steps to avoid new accidents and reduce their impacts:
1. Manage existing preventive systems;
2. Perform preventive actions so as not to let the emergency happen;
3. Acting to eliminate / extinguish quickly the occurrences (performance of the local-Brigade team);
4. Maintain an integrated support system to fight major emergencies;
5. Apell;
In the lecture, the issues discussed were related to the quay and the possible accidents that the area may harbor. This includes problems with worker safety, occurrence between ships, leakage of chemical substances to the environment and several others.
The most worked point was about avoiding accidents with the safe storage of the chemical, identifying emergency situations and preparing to face them in a safe way, avoiding major damages. This is in terms of material, environmental or even human life.
The audience present in the lecture was formed mainly by the Directors of the Port of Recife, employees of the area of ​​Environment and Operations.
"Considering the importance of the theme for our Port, since we handle fertilizers among other chemical products such as Green Coke, the lecture on responsible storage was extremely relevant for the Port of Recife", points out the project and works director of Porto do Recife, Cintia Nogueira.
According to the CPRH, the Ports will have until October 2019 to comply with the norm 13,303 and the Operating licenses in the activities with dangerous and / or chemical products of Porto.
