Continuing the negotiations for the realization of Globe40

This Tuesday (20/04) the president of the Port of Recife, Marconi Muzzio, met with representatives of the Globe40 race organization and Ana Paula Vilaça, executive secretary for Economic Development, continuing the negotiations for the race in the capital of Pernambuco.

In March, the group of organizers of the French nautical event visited Recife and its Port, in order to analyze which structural measures need to be implemented. In this Tuesday's videoconference, in addition to debating the attraction of national sponsors for the competition, the secretary reinforced SDEC's interest in getting this project off the ground.

Sergio Loyo, special advisor on port business and Artur Gusmão, technical director, also attended the meeting.

Globe40 is a Class 40 round-the-world regatta. Starting in the city of Tangier, Morocco, on June 26, 2022, members will travel 300,000 nautical miles in nine months and 140 days at sea.

The stop at the Port of Recife would take place in January 2023. In addition to being a tool for economic movement to the capital, nautical events also encourage structural changes in the surroundings of Porto, which may attract the interest of other international regattas.
