GE Oil & Gas project in the Port of Recife is up for international award

As a result of the evaluation of the award, today, 22:06 at the premises of GE Oil & Gas in the Port of Recife, chairpersons of IPMA, José Garcia, Nasser Efterhar, Raí Tikasit, Antonios Barkagiannis, Michael Kalinowsk analyzed the project. The talk was attended by representatives of GE, Navalmare, the Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Recife, Olavo de Andrade Lima and Commercial and Operations, Carlos Vilar. During the conversation they were made questions about the importance of the project for the Port and for the State of Pernambuco. The highlight highlighted by the port board was the importance of the arrival of GE as anchorage operational profile modifier, since the Port of Recife was always a big operator of bulk and managed to reinvent itself to work with high-value loads.
Questions about the relationship of GE with the Port of Recife were answered by Olavo enthusiastically. The president "praised the good relations and the absence of complaints from players authorities towards the project." Carlos Vilar, added that "the project GE was a great learning experience." The project was a major watershed, Porto gained expertise in this type of operation, increased its revenue and now is ready to receive more projects like this. Luciane Benevides, Logistics Manager of GE Oil & Gas, said that "working with a public port was a big surprise and the Port of Recife reached expectations."
The association launched the Excellence Model project and introduced the International Design Excellence Award for believing that the great performance on projects is a major imperative in the curricula of today's business leaders. The goal of the IPMA award is to increase the recognition of projects in different countries, from different sectors and different organizations and motivate project teams to develop and improve project management. The idea is to value good design, offer feedback on strengths and weaknesses and potential improvements, and still build confidence in the people involved in these projects of excellence.
PROJECT GE OIL & GAS: In November 2013 GE Oil & Gas has started operations at the Port of Recife. The company is a division of the American group General Electric made a $ 20 million investment (43 million reais) in assembling a unit of 55 square meters, located in an area adjacent to the bonded courtyard of the Port of Recife, to meet initially the order of $ 500 million (more than a billion dollars) in equipment that will be shipped in four Petrobras platforms in the pre-salt Santos Basin, in São Paulo. The project GE / GE Navalmare is the largest project in Latin America and is responsible for assembling highly complex structures used in oil exploration platforms.
